Since adopting a whole school restorative approach to student behaviour and conflict resolution we have seen a marked improvement in overall behaviour and a reduction in the number of conflict incidents.
The staff student relationships have improved as the students develop a greater responsibility for their behaviour and choices.
We have had incidence of students beginning their own restorative practice when asked to reflect on a negative situation.
The staff have voiced a feeling of empowerment in that they confidently deal with all students in the playground no matter which age as they know their restorative approach is consistent with that of all other staff.
We often have incidental discussions in the staffroom about how staff have used restorative practice and how they could improve on their approach next time. Very non-threatening and supportive discussions.
